1 Day Basic First Aid Course

Basic first aid training course – one day training.

Outline the basic first aid course is designed for those who may come across first aid situations infrequently. It is designed to give students with the skills and knowledge to provide emergency life saving treatments in common emergency situations. Delivery the course is facilitated by an instructor /tutor who will use a variety of techniques such as lectures, demonstrations, practicals and group discussions amongst others, to guide you through the course. The course is delivered through english. Duration the course is 1 day (6 hours). The course can be delivered over a number of evenings or weekends as necessary.

We used parent first aid to provide our employees with some basic first aid for babies & toddlers. The idea to bring them on site came from an employee that attended a course when she had her first baby & found it very helpful. The training focused on baby/toddler cpr and how to deal with choking, but the trainer was very knowledgeable & opened the floor to questions outside these 2 key areas. We had them on site for a full day & over 50 people were trained in 1 hour sessions with max 15 people per group, to allow for hands on practice.

Hse strongly recommends that first-aiders undertake annual refresher training, over half a day, during any three-year certification period. Although not mandatory, this will help qualified first-aiders maintain their basic skills and keep up to date with any changes to first-aid procedures.
