How to get braces fitted
Orthodontists treat children, teenagers and adults whose teeth are crooked, or whose jaws are not correctly aligned. They often treat bite problems caused by the upper and lower teeth not ‘fitting together’ properly. Orthodontic treatment to straighten the teeth and correct a bite can take 18 months or more since the teeth need to be brought into correct alignment gradually. The most common treatment, usually done in teenagers, is straightening or aligning of the teeth with metal braces or clear aligners. The
person
may have other appliances fitted, such as expansion plates, braces or bite-correcting springs. Adults may prefer to have lingual braces , which are fitted to the inside of the teeth.
What braces look like
Orthodontic treatment (usually with braces) is most often used to improve the appearance and alignment of crooked, protruding or crowded teeth, and to correct problems with the bite of the teeth.
The aao states that orthodontists specialize in aligning the jaws and moving the teeth. What this means in practice is that orthodontists offer treatments to correct crowded teeth, gaps between teeth, teeth that stick out and jaws that don't align properly. Orthodontists have many tools at their disposal to help them move the teeth and jaws into proper alignment, including traditional braces , lingual braces and clear aligners, among other orthodontic appliances. Because alignment problems are unique to each patient, orthodontists use x-rays and photographs of the teeth to create individualized treatment plans, notes the aao.
Lovely people that helped me fix my smile. All the procedures were thoroughly explained which was very helpful. Clean your teeth well
Did you know that straighter teeth are also healthier teeth? this is because the bacteria which cause tooth decay generally hide in between your teeth in the difficult to reach places. If your teeth are crooked then it’s even more difficult to clean in between your teeth with floss or an interdental brush. Straight teeth make it much easier to get that brush or floss in between, meaning you can keep the bacteria at bay and therefore your teeth and smile healthier for longer.

Patrick's day: celtic pride, green shamrocks, and lucky charms! keep that candy at bay during your treatment! orthodontists and dentists both help patients improve their oral health, but in different ways. Dentistry is a broad medical specialty that deals with the teeth, gum, nerves, and jaw, while orthodontics is a specialty within dentistry that focuses on correcting bites, occlusion, and the straightness of teeth. One important difference is that all orthodontists like drs. Burk and flinn are dentists, but not all dentists are licensed orthodontists.
