5. Give rooms a bold update with paint
My house takes a battering at christmas – there are scratches and marks all over the hallway walls from wrestling the christmas tree in and out of the living room and someone is bound to splash a drink at some point during the festivities. One year i even managed to knock a candle off a shelf and drip red wax all down a white wall. So once the decorations are down, i like to attack the walls that need a little tlc with a paint brush. In my house this means painting the hallway and living room, but i’d suggest focusing on the most high-traffic rooms in your own home.
Paint is the easiest and most cost-effective way to update your home. A fresh colour can totally transform a space and how it feels. For maximum impact, opt for a feature wall in a bold or statement colour, or opt for a softer colour update around the full room. If you’re not wanting to redecorate a full room, why not use some leftover paint to upcycling pieces around your home? an upcycle project can be anything from an old piece of furniture to a plant pot, and a quick coat of paint can give it a new lease of life – and a new purpose in your home.
